T-X contract goes to Boeing-Saab

A consortium of Boeing and Saab has won the contract for the USAF's T-X trainer aircraft. Twin tail, single GE 404 engine, elevated IP seat.

Only all-new design in the competition, uses the F404. SAAB is the sub, but right now the plan is to make about 80% of the airframe, etc. at St. Louis, keeping the lines open for future combat aircraft.
