I recall from 'some' years ago, Clay Tice P-38 flyer used to post rather prolifically, poking at Kirby when able. I'm reading 'Whirlwind' and found this reference to landing on Kyushu just days after hostilities ceased (mostly). One of the P-38s was low on fuel, so they had a B-17 tanker some gas. It went well, but was a bit tense at first! I know he'd posted this story here, but wasn't sure of the details. Tried to post a screenshot of that page in the book, but guess I can't add attachments.
