Kaspersky always seems to do well. Considering their base of operation, is this something that can be trusted on a personal computer?

+1. I don't think there's anything wrong about them - currently. But if things go sour between us and Russia, I wouldn't trust them. And you need complete trust in your security software.

I've watched a number of videos from that channel. I ended up going with BitDefender. It's one of the products he recommends on his website.
